Gulf University is set to celebrate the third edition of International Accounting Day on October 13, 2024, recognizing the vital contributions of accountants, auditors, and financial managers in enhancing organizational efficiency and supporting Bahrain’s national economy. Under the theme “Accounting and Auditing: The Foundation of Economic Success,” the event will highlight the essential role accounting plays in achieving financial sustainability and improving institutional performance.
The day’s activities will include appreciation speeches and awards for industry participants, alongside expert-led panel discussions on the latest trends in accounting and financial management. Gulf University students will also present a theatrical performance showcasing the integration of modern technology in auditing practices, with a keynote address from a representative of the university’s alumni.
Aligned with Bahrain’s Vision 2030, this celebration emphasizes Gulf University’s commitment to preparing skilled accountants ready to contribute to a knowledge-based economy. The university aims to enhance students’ financial and accounting capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the industry and drive sustainable economic growth in the kingdom.
Gulf University President, Prof. Mohanad Al-Mashhadani, expressed his pride in organizing the event, saying, “Today, we celebrate the individuals whose work elevates corporate performance and strengthens the national economy. Accounting is a cornerstone of Bahrain’s Vision 2030, and through this event, we highlight the value of accountants as key enablers of institutional success and sustainability.”
Dean of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zogool noted, “This event reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing student skills and fostering collaboration with the finance and business sectors, ultimately contributing to the development of the next generation of accountants who will drive financial sustainability and help achieve the Kingdom’s sustainable development goals.”
Head of the Accounting and Finance Department, Dr. Mujeeb Al-Absi stressed the event’s role in fostering connections between academia and industry professionals from Bahrain and beyond. With support from the Bahrain Association of Accountants and Auditors and participation from a delegation of the Kuwait Association of Accountants and Auditors, the event offers students an opportunity to learn global best practices in accounting and auditing, while also recognizing the contributions of accounting professionals to financial transparency and stability.
