About Department
The Mass Communication and Public Relations (MCPR) Department at Gulf University (GU) was established in Fall 2009 in response to the growing demand for skilled media professionals in Bahrain and the Gulf region. The department offers two programs: a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication (BMC) and a Master’s in Mass Communication (MMC).
Recognizing the rapid evolution of mass communication and the increasing global emphasis on practical and strategic communication, the department was developed to align with Gulf and international media education standards, ensuring graduates are equipped with the latest theoretical and technical skills in the mass communication field to meet industry demands.
Since its founding, the MCPR Department has continuously advanced in curriculum, teaching methodologies, and technological integration. By adopting cutting-edge pedagogical approaches and staying attuned to regional and global media trends, the department has positioned itself as a leading academic hub for media studies in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The MCPR Department serves as a dynamic academic and research hub that enables students to explore contemporary media issues from multiple perspectives, fostering creativity, critical analysis, communication skills and ethical media practices. Through this multidisciplinary engagement, the department cultivates both creative problem-solving skills for media contexts and technical expertise in digital content creation. By integrating practical components such as internships, industry workshops, and direct engagement with communication professionals, the department bridges theory with practice, ultimately preparing graduates to successfully compete in the labor market, meet the evolving demands of the media industry, and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development initiatives.
