The second day of the “Multidisciplinary Legal Negotiation Training Program,” organized by the College of Law at Gulf University in collaboration with the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli (Italy), featured intense and enriching activities. The focus was on improving participants’ negotiation skills and deepening their understanding of issues related to labor contracts and human resources matters.
Training Session on Labor Contracts and Human Resources Issues
The day began with a training session from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM titled “Negotiating Labor Contracts and Human Resources Issues.” The session included a practical scenario simulating negotiations between a labor law attorney and human resources managers. The simulation focused on improving working conditions and addressing sensitive issues such as improving the work environment and ensuring wage equality among employees.
One of the prominent cases discussed involved a wage gap between employees performing the same tasks. This case sparked a discussion on the importance of including a clear clause in contracts to ensure wage fairness. During the session, participants learned how to use logical arguments and data to support their negotiation positions, as well as how to handle objections constructively.
Discussion Session on Overcoming Negotiation Challenges
After a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, the discussion session commenced from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, where the key challenges faced by students in previous negotiation sessions were addressed. Students shared their experiences and practical challenges, such as balancing conflicting goals of parties, time pressure during negotiations, and handling tense situations.
One participant highlighted a challenge in convincing the other party to accept a clause related to gradual salary increases to alleviate the financial burden on the company. Experts and trainers provided practical solutions, including using data-driven arguments, reframing proposals to highlight mutual benefits, and developing active listening skills to enhance understanding between the parties.
Building Confidence and Legal Awareness
The second day provided participants with a rich opportunity to apply negotiation skills practically and develop innovative methods for dealing with challenging scenarios. The sessions also contributed to raising students’ awareness of labor and media laws, boosting their confidence in managing discussions in diverse professional environments.
