Gulf University celebrated the glorious National Day on the evening of Wednesday, December 10, within the university campus, in a distinguished event organized by students from various colleges. The celebration brought together youthful creativity and national spirit in a setting that reflected the students’ ability to lead and organize major events with a strong sense of responsibility and belonging. This year’s celebration stood out for its reliance on recycled materials in most of the decorations and activity corners, in line with the sustainability goals adopted by the university. This added an innovative touch to the event, reflecting the students’ environmental awareness and their commitment to applying sustainable practices across university activities. The campus was adorned with decorations inspired by authentic Bahraini heritage, accompanied by a diverse program of student activities, including a competition for the best traditional attire, a henna corner, and a range of recreational games for families and children, in addition to distinctive heritage performances presented by the Al-Habban Folk Arts Band, all within an atmosphere filled with pride and national belonging.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Mona Bint Rashid Al-Zayani, Chairperson of the University’s Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, extended her highest congratulations and blessings to the wise leadership, affirming that Gulf University continues to fulfill its national mission by empowering youth and strengthening their values of conscious citizenship. She expressed her pride in the efforts, organization, and creativity demonstrated by the students, noting that this work reflects the team spirit and values of excellence embraced by the university within its strategy to build an innovative and responsible generation capable of making an effective contribution to serving the nation.
Professor Dr. Mohanad Al-Firas, President of Gulf University, also praised the exceptional level of the event, explaining that such national activities form an important part of the applied learning system and skills-based approach adopted by the university. He added that the celebration provided an opportunity to enhance students’ practical skills and develop a spirit of initiative and teamwork connected to their academic programs and specializations, thereby strengthening their professional readiness and providing them with realistic educational experiences.
For their part, the participating students expressed their appreciation for this experience. One student from the College of Engineering, from the hosted University of Northampton program, stated that his participation in organizing the event significantly enriched his experience, as the university gave them space for creativity and practical application and supported their ideas, in addition to providing opportunities to showcase their commercial and academic projects to the public. This boosted their self-confidence and opened new horizons for development.
Through this national celebration, Gulf University continues its journey in reinforcing Bahraini identity among its students and strengthening the spirit of belonging and teamwork within an educational environment that contributes to preparing an aware and responsible generation capable of contributing to a more prosperous future for the nation.
