In a dazzling display of technological prowess and educational innovation, Gulf University has been awarded the Bahrain Digital Content Award (BDCA) 2025 in the Learning and Education category for its pioneering project, “Mariam – The Intelligent AI Assistant.” The award ceremony took place at the Gulf Hotel under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, and in the presence of prominent national leaders, experts, and specialists in the field of digital transformation.
This recognition reflects Gulf University’s excellence in developing smart and innovative educational solutions that contribute to enhancing the quality of higher education and empowering students with modern AI tools. It aligns with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national direction toward digital education and supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH), the award’s organizing body, affirmed that Gulf University’s win demonstrates institutional leadership in leveraging modern technologies to enrich academic content and provide a flexible and inclusive learning experience that contributes to the national digital economy.
This accomplishment crowns Gulf University’s strategic vision of adopting innovation as a core component of its academic mission, led by University President Professor Dr. Mohannad Al-Fares and supported by a team of expert academics and researchers who developed the project as a model for smart education in higher education institutions.
“Mariam – The Intelligent AI Assistant” stands out as a pioneering initiative that highlights the integration of artificial intelligence with interactive learning. The project is designed to support students by instantly responding to their academic and administrative inquiries, thus enhancing their overall experience both on and off campus.
Mr. Ali Mansour, Head of the Digital Transformation Center and Director of Information Technology, emphasized that the project represents a significant step toward accelerating digital transformation at the university. “The assistant provides students with immediate access to information and university services through a smart interface powered by generative AI technologies, reflecting Gulf University’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge innovations in the educational process,” he explained.
