“Strengthening Cultural Understanding and Academic Collaboration Between Bahrain and Russia,” Says AlFiras
Gulf University is pleased to announce the approval granted by the Bahraini Higher Education Council for the establishment of the Russian Language Center, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s efforts to foster cultural understanding and academic collaboration between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation.
The newly approved center aims to offer exceptional opportunities for students and the wider community to learn the Russian language, thereby enhancing their global communication skills. In addition to language courses, the center will offer programs that explore Russia’s rich cultural heritage through educational courses, cultural activities, and academic exchange initiatives.
This development follows a recent delegation of Gulf University students who visited Russia, where they engaged in educational and cultural tours, attended lectures at prominent Russian universities, and explored iconic landmarks such as the Kremlin Museum, the Bolshoi Theatre, and advanced technological hubs.
Gulf University President, Prof. Mohanad Al-Firas, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating: “The approval of launch of the Russian Language Center is a testament to Gulf University’s ongoing commitment to advancing education and broadening the perspectives of our students, in line with Bahrain Vision 2030. The recent student visit to Russia was a deeply enriching experience that strengthened cultural ties, and this center will build on that momentum to foster further understanding and cooperation.”
Chechen State Pedagogical University teaching staff from the Department of Foreign Languages, MS. Gatsieva Tumisha, also praised the decision, saying: “The approval of the Russian Language Center at Gulf University is a clear reflection of the historic relationship between Bahrain and Russia. The recent student visit demonstrated the immense potential for collaboration, and we are confident that this center will serve as a gateway to further academic and cultural exchanges.”
This initiative aligns with Bahrain Vision 2030’s objectives fostering innovation, education, and cultural diversity. By providing comprehensive programs in the Russian language and culture, the center will contribute to the development of skilled individuals who are prepared to lead sustainable growth and enhance Bahrain’s standing as a regional hub for education and culture.
