The Gulf University celebrated the conclusion of the 2023-2024 academic year, recognising excellence in education and learning, community engagement, academic leadership and management, scientific research, administrative staff, and teamwork. The event was attended by Her Excellency Professor Mona Rashid Al Zayani, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Professor Mohannad Al Mashdani, President of Gulf University, and all university members, including academics and administrators.
Professor Mona Rashid Al Zayani expressed her pride in the university’s achievements over the past academic year, praising the efforts of all university members in reaching these successes. She stated, “These accomplishments are the result of the hard work and continuous efforts of everyone at the university. We look forward to continuing this approach in the coming years.”
In his remarks, Professor Mohannad Al Mashdani emphasised the importance of fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the university. He highlighted the university’s commitment to providing an exceptional educational environment that promotes scientific research and professional development. He said, “Honouring today’s distinguished individuals is a step towards enhancing teamwork spirit and achieving further success in the future.”
Awards for excellence were presented in various categories. Dr. Mohammad Dawas and Ms. Maryam Jumaa were honoured with the Excellence in Education and Learning Award for their significant contributions to enhancing educational quality and implementing best global practices in teaching and learning. Dr. Bilal Bashar and Dr. Omar Belbish received the Best Contribution to Community Engagement Award for their exceptional roles in supporting and serving the local community. Dr. Aseel Ayash was recognised with the Excellence in Academic Leadership and Management Award for her outstanding leadership and management of the Interior Design Engineering program. Dr. Mohammad Al Sheikly and Dr. Mujeeb Saif were awarded the Best Researcher/Excellence in Scientific Research Award for their valuable research contributions and high citation rates in top global journals. Ms. Maryam Emad and Ms. Rabab Al Zangi were acknowledged as the Best Administrative Staff for their excellent performance in administrative roles. The Quality Assurance and Development Centre received the Best Team Award, with special recognition given to team members Dr. Rumba Roy, Dr. Tanweer Hussein, Ms. Sherine Murad, Mr. Mohammad Akbar, and Ms. Fahema Ali for their notable efforts in enhancing institutional quality and development.These awards reflect the university’s commitment to supporting and encouraging excellence and innovation in various fields.
Gulf University announced that the fall semester will begin in early September, preparing to welcome new students and resume educational activities with new ambitions.
Additionally, Gulf University launched a new digital advertising and marketing program in collaboration with the University of Northampton in the UK. This program is the first of its kind in Bahrain and provides a UK-accredited qualification in this field. The university also offers other academic programs in collaboration with the University of Northampton, such as bachelor’s degrees in electrical and electronic engineering and mechanical engineering.
Notably, the university holds institutional accreditation, with all its programs recognised by the Education and Training Quality Authority. It also holds “IET Associate Membership” from The Institution of Engineering and Technology, ASJMC membership, and international professional accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), making its media program the second academic program outside the UK to receive this accreditation. Additionally, the university has international membership with the AACSB and accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
