Gulf University celebrated Bahraini Women’s Day on December 1st 2025 by launching the fifth edition of the “President for a Day” initiative, which has become a well-established annual program reflecting the university’s commitment to empowering women and enhancing their role in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King.
This year, second-year Law student Shahad Hesham Al Isa was selected to assume the role of University President for one day, following a selection process among eight candidates who excelled in academic performance, leadership qualities, and community engagement. During her day in office, Shahad held a consultative meeting with the University President, Professor Dr. Mohanad Al Firas, and reviewed administrative policies and organizational procedures. She carried out her responsibilities with confidence and made several decisions that reflected her awareness of the university’s social, developmental, and leadership role.
Her decisions included a set of initiatives aimed at strengthening the status of Bahraini women within the university, such as honoring Bahraini female employees and granting them a half-day of work on this occasion, allocating a budget to participate in the Maraee 2025 Exhibition, and supporting the national football team during its participation in Doha by providing a bus to transport students and staff to attend the matches an initiative that reflects their sense of national pride.
On this occasion, student Shahad Hesham Al Isa expressed her gratitude, saying:
“I am deeply proud of the trust Gulf University has placed in me and for granting me this leadership experience, which allowed me to understand administrative processes and decision-making. This initiative is an inspiring step for female students and opens wider horizons for us to contribute to shaping the future and gaining skills and knowledge.”
For his part, University President Professor Dr. Mohanad Al Firas affirmed that continuing this initiative for the fifth consecutive year embodies the university’s vision of supporting young female leaders. He noted that Shahad’s selection was due to her excellence and dedication, adding:
“At Gulf University, we believe that empowering female students and providing them with leadership opportunities strengthens their role in society and aligns with Bahrain’s vision and the directives of its wise leadership.”
