Gulf University Research Council organized a workshop on Maximizing Research Visibility & Citation Impact: Metrics, Indexing & Global Scholarly Recognition, conducted by Dr. Abu Bashar Mohamed, Assistant Professor at Gulf University.
The workshop examined the metrics that shape modern scholarly recognition, including citation counts, h-index, journal indexing in Scopus and Web of Science, and emerging altmetric indicators. Participants learned how each metric is calculated and what it actually measures.
Practical techniques were shared for improving research visibility — building author profiles on Google Scholar, ORCID and ResearchGate, optimizing keywords and abstracts for discoverability, and engaging with global research communities to strengthen citation impact.
