The Gulf University launched the second edition of its international conference entitled Digital Media and Social Transformations in the Arab Gulf, remotely on the first and second of November 2020, with the participation of 49 researchers from various Arab countries.
In this regard, Dr. Muhannad Al-Mashhadani stated that the idea of the conference came from the Gulf University’s belief in the importance of the role of scientific research in understanding, analyzing and keeping pace with societal transformations, thus contributing to the creation of new visions and innovative solutions that support the wheel of economic and social development and help build media policies and community awareness strategies capable of putting an end. Al-Mashhadani added that the launch of this type of conference is mainly based on the national strategy for scientific research launched by the Council of Higher Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which aspires to develop research cooperation at the local, regional and international levels and to place the Kingdom of Bahrain on the global map of research.
Al-Mashhadani indicated that this conference will extend for two consecutive days and will include an opening session and 6 scientific sessions that will discuss a set of axes related to digital media and social issues, digital space and its link to the formation of public opinion, in addition to the concept of freedom and ethics in cyberspace, and a number of other axes.
Al-Mashhadani also added that we will give our distinguished students who have produced scientific research during their study period the opportunity to present their research papers as part of the conference sessions in order to encourage their efforts in addition to providing them with the skills of scientific thinking, dialogue, discussion and living the activities of scientific activities in an environment conducive to increasing knowledge in addition to building a point of contact between them and a group One of the experts in the field of scientific research, to increase their skills and experience and achieve the vision of the Gulf University represented in improving the qualitative outputs that provide the government and private sectors with qualified human cadres by graduating a group of distinguished students who are able to compete in the labor market, lead the future and participate in serving the country, thus achieving comprehensive national development And His Majesty’s Vision 2030.
For his part, Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Public Relations at the Gulf University, Dr.Abdullah Al-Taher, stressed the importance of this conference, especially since the recent exceptional circumstances that the whole world experienced due to the spread of the Coronavirus have put all institutions and countries in front of radical transformations that have strengthened the strength of the digital environment that has become an incubator for many Business and various activities.
