Mechanical Engineering (BEng) Program and Electrical & Electronic Engineering Program (BEng) in collaboration with the university of Northampton organized a field visit to the sixth Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS), from the 9th to the 11th of November 2022 at Sakhir Air Base.
The aim of this visit is to promote the students’ skills and establish networks with decision-makers in order to learn more about the sector and the nature of employment opportunities within it. The Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) conducted Airbus Lectures as well for the students in the exhibition hall showing how the Airbus is a leader in designing, manufacturing and delivering aerospace products, services and solutions to customers on a worldwide scale.
This field visit was supervised by Dr. Osama Al-Rawi, Dean of the College of Engineering and Dr. Mohammad Alshekhly a faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering and Mrs Mariam Emad, Coordinator the College of Engineering along with a group of students enrolled in both programs.
The Engineering Students were exposed to the latest innovations and sustainability trends in the aviation sector by taking them through Airbus’ journey towards clean aerospace. A major focus on their sustainability strategy is reducing the CO2 emissions of their current aircraft with a focus on their ambition to bring the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft to market by 2035.
