Job Summary:
The University Photographer is responsible for capturing high-quality images that represent the university’s mission, culture, and events. This role involves collaborating with various departments to provide visual content for marketing materials, websites, social media, and other communication platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, creativity, and the ability to work in diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Photography Services:
- Capture professional photographs for university events, programs, and various departments.
- Focus on campus life, academic activities, athletics, and special events.
- Provide portrait photography for faculty, staff, and student profiles.
- Content Development:
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to determine photographic needs.
- Develop engaging visual content for social media, brochures, newsletters, and the university website.
- Ensure visual content aligns with the university’s branding guidelines.
- Post-Production:
- Edit and retouch images to ensure high-quality final products.
- Organize and maintain a digital archive of photographs for easy access and distribution.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work with faculty, students, and staff to ensure the successful capture of required imagery.
- Participate in planning meetings for upcoming events to anticipate photographic needs.
- Equipment Management:
- Maintain and manage photographic equipment, including cameras, lighting, and accessories.
- Stay updated on new photography trends, techniques, and technologies.
- Marketing and Promotion:
- Assist in promoting university events and highlights through compelling imagery.
- Ensure timely delivery of images for marketing deadlines.
- Other Duties:
- Attend university events as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Participate in professional development activities to improve photography skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a professional photographer, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of photography styles and subjects.
- Proficiency in photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A keen understanding of social media trends and online visual storytelling.
